Understand How Dental Insurance Works

Most dental insurance plans are primarily designed to help patients afford services like checkups and cleanings, but they also offer benefits to cover more complex treatments like extractions and implants. Our team will help our patients maximize their dental benefits at the consultation appointment.

For most plans, extractions are considered complex care. All dental insurance plans are different, and their percentage covered per treatment will differ from plan to plan. When it comes to dental implants, some plans offer coverage for the surgical placement of an implant, and some do not. Some plans will cover the extraction or the crown, and some do not.

Depending on available benefits some insurance plans may or may not cover the new teeth, such as the crown or the denture.

Don’t worry. We have a dedicated team of insurance experts to take care of the insurance details for you. We will verify your coverage ahead of time and provide you with an estimate of insurance coverage and your patient portion of the fee. We will file the claim for you and help you maximize your benefits.

As an in-network provider with some PPO dental insurance companies, this simply means we have a contract with the company to offer our services for a discounted rate, which the company then partially covers.

However, we’re also happy to work with most out-of-network PPO plans as well to help you get any reimbursement to which you are entitled. The bottom line is that we are always willing to help you secure reimbursement even if you have a plan that we do not work with directly. Reimbursement amounts vary, of course, but they often provide you with significant cost savings.

Payment Options

For your convenience, we accept Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, and Discover. We deliver the finest care at the most reasonable cost to our patients. Payment is due at the time service is rendered unless other arrangements have been made in advance. If you have questions regarding your account, please contact any of our locations. Many times, a simple telephone call can clear up any misunderstandings. Please remember that you are fully responsible for all fees charged by our First Coast Oral Surgery office, regardless of your insurance coverage.

You can expect a monthly statement sent by mail and/or email. Most insurance companies will respond within four to six weeks. Please call our office if your statement does not reflect payments made by your insurance company during that time period. Any remaining balance after your insurance has paid its portion is your responsibility. Your prompt remittance is appreciated. We do not offer in-office financing, but we will help you locate financing options.

Preparation for oral surgery depends on the type of procedure being performed. Generally, if you are receiving sedation or general anesthesia, you should not eat or drink anything for at least 8 hours before your appointment. It is also important to follow any pre-operative instructions provided by your surgeon, such as discontinuing certain medications or arranging for someone to drive you home. Wearing comfortable clothing and avoiding makeup, jewelry, or nail polish is also recommended.
